I believe the only reason relationships don’t pull through and feelings linger for what seems a lifetime is because people don’t truly get over people now a days. They try to build a wall rather then face and give into true feelings. Building a wall around your emotions just hides it from your exterior image. It’s like guilt, when you feel guilty of hiding something you have to constantly seem as if you know nothing, but that thought of what your hiding is still there in the back of your mind. Every time something resembling the situation is mentioned that emotion/feeling that’s been buried beneath the walls slowly seeps out. This generation has been brought up on keeping secrets. That’s why I believe things as simple as a relationship cannot work out, that’s why I believe people cheat. Until we learn how to be open and honest and give into our true feelings love will not exist. The worst part about all this is though you may agree it changes nothing. Society doesn’t change because one person thinks something should be a certain way. There’s that fear of being completely honest with someone and then being dismissed, rejected etc. Because that person is not comfortable with making themselves vulnerable. They’ve grown accustom to guarding their feelings and heart. It’s the sad reality we now live in. I wish I could live in a time where you could marry your High School Sweetheart and actually live “Happily Ever After” but it won’t happen in our times.
